Essential Elements of a Taos Wellness Retreat

    At Taos Wellness Retreats, we have both led and participated in countless Retreats. Our intention is not only that your Retreat is on-target to what you are needing but also that you leave feeling renewed and with tools and insights that support lasting change.

      Retreats have been central to spiritual traditions for centuries because they create powerful, concentrated space for healing and insight.

      Intention Setting

      Your intentions for your retreat serve as your guiding compass. We will thoughtfully design your retreat around what you want to focus on and how you want to feel when you leave. Together, we’ll clarify and refine your intentions to create an experience that best supports your goals.

      PREPARATION

      The retreat journey begins the moment you say yes.

      In the two weeks leading up to your retreat, you’ll be invited into a preparation process designed to help you arrive more open, present, and receptive. During your 90-minute Retreat Planning Zoom session, we’ll discuss personalized ways to prepare for your experience.

      Many participants find that the preparation period is transformative in itself. Insights, synchronicities, meaningful dreams, and moments of deep clarity often begin to emerge before the retreat starts.

      We encourage you to simplify your diet in a way that feels right for your body so that you arrive feeling clear, energized, and well-nourished. Rather than following a specific diet, we support you in choosing what best serves your unique needs.

      We’ll also introduce practices that can help you deepen your connection to your intentions and prepare for the healing and growth that awaits.

      HEALING SESSIONS

      Your one-on-one healing sessions are thoughtfully designed around your intentions and facilitated by a hand-selected team of highly skilled practitioners. Throughout your retreat, you’ll receive an exceptional level of personalized care.

      You’ll experience at least two 90-minute healing sessions each day, with spaciousness for rest, integration, and contemplation.

      Each session is intentionally sequenced to build upon the last, creating a personalized journey that supports your deepest intentions and desired outcomes. Through immersive, holistic modalities, you’ll be invited into greater levels of self-awareness, insight, healing, transformation, and well-being. While some sessions may be deeply restorative and others more challenging, each is designed to support meaningful growth and lasting change.

      PRACTICES

      We encourage all retreat participants to engage in practices that can help you get the most from your time here including:

      Silence – Between healing sessions, we encourage you to keep conversations to practical logistics only. If you’ve ever attended a meditation retreat, you may already know the power of silence and how it enhances inner awareness.

      Before your retreat, consider letting friends, family and colleagues know that you’ll be on a silent retreat or unavailable. A surprising amount of energy goes into our relationships and daily interactions. By taking a break from outside demands, you create space to focus entirely on yourself, your healing, and your inner journey.

      JournalingJournaling can be a valuable part of your retreat, even if it’s not something you normally do.

      Healing sessions often bring new insights and reveal patterns or habits that may no longer serve you. Writing down your reflections helps deepen and integrate these realizations. Journaling can also help clarify questions and areas you’d like to explore more deeply during your sessions.

      Mindfulness/Savoring – Retreat is an invitation to slow down and savor your moments. We invite you to open your senses, relax into your body, connect with nature, and give yourself permission to focus on your own well-being.

      The following practices can be facilitated by TWR or self-guided:

      Meditation – There are many approaches to meditation, and all have value. Benefits may include a calming the mind, greater presence, increased awareness of physical and emotional tension, deeper connection to your inner wisdom, relaxation, insight, prayer, and a greater sense of connection to something larger than yourself.

      Breathwork or Pranayama – Breathwork is both an ancient practice and a powerful modern tool for regulating emotions, calming anxiety, and cultivating mental clarity.

      In yoga, the practice of breathwork is known as pranayama. The word prana means “life force,” and yama means “control” or “guidance.” In yogic traditions, breath and life force are viewed as deeply connected.

      Yoga Nidrais a somatic meditation done lying down. It creates a state of deep relaxation while maintaining conscious awareness. This practice helps calm the nervous system, rest the body, and quiet the mind.

      Yoga – Yoga offers an opportunity to reconnect with your body, breath, and inner awareness. Depending on your needs and experience level, practices can range from gentle, restorative movement to more active forms designed to build strength, flexibility, and balance.

      Want a custom morning practice? – My dear friend and colleague, Reema Datta, is an expert in yogic and somatic practices. She would be delighted to work with you during your retreat to create a customized daily practice that supports your well-being, emotional balance and deepens your spiritual connection. Your daily practice is your one of the most powerful ways to keep all that you’ve opened during your retreat alive.

        First schedule a free inquiry call or just try us at (505) 926-1451‬. Next step is a 60-min. Zoom session with founder Naraya to talk about your retreat design, intentions, goals, wishes, and get your input on treatments, preferences and flow.

        Preparation, Travel & Arrive in Taos!

        10 days before your retreat you’ll be offered optional practices to prepare your body-mind for your upcoming Retreat. When you arrive in Taos, a Retreat Guide will welcome you give you a special gift.

        Retreat Immersion

        2-3 Healing Treatments per day with various healers except on your Medicine Walk/Pueblo Tour day where you’ll go on a 3-4 hour outing. Retreats can be 3 or more days.

        Integration & Closing

        Closing ritual on the last day of your Retreat. Optional Integration Coaching to highlight transformational shifts, tools and realizations you are taking home.

        Accommodations

            Accommodations and meals are not included in your Taos Wellness Retreat and need to be booked separately. You can stay in any Taos accomodation and we can offer a list of suggestions.

            Starting April 2026, we invite you to stay with our friends and partners at Maravilla B&B because it offers a beautiful, tranquil, country setting, just 5 minutes from town. But best of all, most of your healers can travel to you and do your treatments on site. 

            Maravilla is currently under renovation, aimed to open April 2026. It offers 5 rooms on a small organic farm with therapy horses and a neighboring nature park. There is a Mongolian yurt where yoga classes are sometimes held and you’ll be served delicious, healthy, homemade breakfasts daily with the option for additional meals.

            We encourage staying at Maravilla so you can go deep during your treatments and not worry about driving afterwards. It’s not uncommon to feel “out-of-it” i.e. in an altered state post-treatment. This way you can walk to your room, journal, relax and keep an inward focus as you integrate your healing session.

            If you are adventursome and want to stay at any other Taos vacation rental or accomodation, you will meet your healers at their own offices which will require driving, gps, waiting rooms or hiring an Uber or Lyft driver.
